Tune-ups
At Midway Excel Tire & Auto Centres we know
that an ounce of maintenance is worth a thousand cures…and less
expensive as well. We provide tune up services for all makes and
models of vehicles. Most people do not realize that tuning a vehicle
is critical to maintain daily dependable operation. Ideally a tune-up
should be performed on a vehicle every 40,000 km.
Warning Signs*
- Vehicle does not start properly
- There is a "pinging" noise or poor engine
performance
- Vehicle is getting poor gas mileage
- Rough idling or hard starting
- Vehicle is stalling or will not stay running
at an idle
*These warning signs are only possible
symptoms of the problem. Please come in and ask our service technicians
for a professional diagnosis.
What our service includes:
- Engine diagnostic test with computer printout
to explain the results
- Pressure test fuel system
- Access available computer codes to identify
engine problems
- Install spark plugs, when needed
- Set timing and adjust idle speed when applicable
- Test the battery and charging system
- Wiring is usually replaced every second or
third tune-up
- Visually inspect the air filter, PVC valve
and ignition cables
- Visually inspect the distributor cap and
ignition rotor
- Visually inspect carbon canister filter,
when applicable
- Visually inspect vacuum hose condition
- Test exhaust emissions (not valid for provincial
inspections)
- Visually inspect fuel injector throttle assembly,
or carb throat, for cleanliness and free operation
- Visually inspect oil level and condition
- Visually inspect coolant and/or antifreeze
level
- Visually inspect and correct tire pressure
- Road test
